My name is Jason and I'm a freshman at
HCRHS. I'm 15 years old. I'm not your average kid as you can see by this creative project I work on. Not everyone says 'Hey! I think I wanna make a rubberband ball!'.
I like to see how big I can make the ball
and how many people I meet along the way. It is pretty surprising that I have met people, not in person, but through the internet. I have talked to Dave Rossi, Adam Riva, John Bain, Matt Whitlock, Clint
Buhler, etc. Besides working on my rubberband
ball, I do alot of other things. First, I like extreme sports. Inline Skating and Skateboarding are cool, inlining is my primery sport. I am on Velocity Skate Team. We take
trips to skateparks, record videos, and sell them.
It's pretty fun. My skates are TRS Access. As far as skateboarding goes, I just do it to mess around. I can only do the basics like ollie, manual, pop shuvit, boardslide,
and 5050. Whereas in inlining I can do so much
more including grinding handrails and mute grabs over a spine. I have a quarterpipe in my backyard which is fun to skate. I also like to soap (soap shoes). I like to hit
handrails and weird things that people normally wouldn't
think to grind. The biggest handrail I've hit was 7 stairs, but when I find a bigger set I'll grind that. I also like basketball and my favorite team is the Knicks. I can get
rim on 9 ft. basket (I'm 5'5"). Music is basically
my catharsis from everything else. If I want to be alone or if I'm mad, music works out everything. Slipknot, Korn, and Mudvayne are my favorite bands, but I do like lots more including Aerosmith and classic
rock. Besides that I just watch TV or movies
or hang out. If it wasn't for this project I believe my life would be more boring. I know you think that this IS boring and dumb, but it is fun for me. Everytime someone says
you're crazy! or oh my god whats wrong with you?!
it just motivates me a little bit more to get the ball bigger. Right now I am aiming for 10th spot in the world (140 lbs.). Yes, it is a challenge, but that's what makes it fun: competition.
And that's what life is all about.
